Short Description

Nex is an overal funny an optimistic character in the story, and the one that grows through experiencing all kind of horrible things. He becomes stronger, and does everything for his comrades, freedom and his lover. You can't possibly hate him.

Past

Nex was one of the five children of the household, raised to play together and leave their mother alone. He had a good bond with his brothers and sister, but they also got into a lot of fights because of the small space they were living in. He was an energetic and rebellious kid, but friendly. As soon as he was done with school he went to work at the local tourist center far away from home.

In the story

After the disaster Nex got away from the city and joined a group secure in the forest. The group was lead by two people, a hunter named Basil and a retired leader of the army, Conrad. Nex didn't quite find his place at first, but the other members of the group grew a lot of respect for him because of his strong team spirit. He became best friends with Basil, and others almost began to see him as some kind of second leader.

After a pretty long time in the forest supplies ran short. The other leader of the group, Conrad, became more toxic about the situation. There was a lot of frustration among members and other groups, and the retired army leader suggested to claim territory from another group to survive. Nex and the half of the group agreed, while the other half was for helping others and combining forces without violence. Basil and Conrad got into a fight about the leadership, leaving Conrad as only leader of the group. Without saying the group claimed the territory of the other group, and soon started growing in a more vicious and aggressive group. Instead of working together with others they raided supplies and claimed more territory, and Conrad became a feared and manipulative leader.

In one of the raiding missions Nex got into trouble, getting shot into his arm and barely surviving because of the blood loss. He wanted to return to their base and stay put, but Conrad forced him to stay on the battle field and continue fighting. They won the fight, but Nex his wound got infected and his under right arm needed to be amputated. He blamed Conrad for his losses, and finally saw what he and the group had become and what damage they had done to themselves and others. Nex needed some time to get used to the new way of living and fighting, but not long after his recovery Conrad was ready to put him onto the battlefield again.

 

Because of the ghost pain, Nex was forced to take pain medication, and because they were quite rare and Conrad was the only one having them, he was forced to listen to him as well. He became a puppet under command of Conrad, one of the leading warriors of the group. Nex wanted to escape the group, but with the pain and nowhere to go he wouldn't survive if he would flee. Luckily for him, there is a new doctor in the group, who helps him out with his ghost pain and other things. His name is Dr. Sades, and the two slowly fall in love with each other.
